Food in North Dakota is meat, potatoes and milk to drink.

The state is a major producer of soybeans, wheat and sugar beets which are some essential ingredients and crops used in cooking. Wheat is used for everything from bread to breakfast cereals, including pasta. North Dakota grows several wheat varieties, and other grains find a spot in fertile North Dakota lands together with wheat and barley, however, it is durum wheat the one to highlithg here as it is the variety of wheat used to make macaroni, spaghetti, and other types of pasta.

Soybean products are often to processed foods, apart from being cooked as any other bean. North Dakota produces many other dry edible beans, like navy beans, pinto beans, black beans, great northern beans and lentils.

It is not only sunflower seeds in North Dakota, the state also grows flax seed and canola.

Some farmers are also beekepers and honey is one of North Dakota's products.

This territory is also known for its beef production. The United States are a major producer of beef; and when it comes to state contributions, North Dakota is certainly a major player being home to many respected cattle ranchers. Bison is also raised in its fertile prairies.

The hot breakfast cereal Cream of Wheat, a kind of porridge, was developed in Grand Forks in 1893. It was made by a mill employee from the part of the wheat grain that wasn't used to make flour.

North Dakota foods

North Dakota is a state with a rich food culture. As with many other states in the Midwest, its cuisine shows German influences, but it also has integrated Norwegian and Russian recipes. Some of the most popular dishes in the state include knoephla soup, which is a thick, creamy potato soup made with dumplings, diced bacon and carrots; lefse, a Norwegian-style flatbread made with potatoes, flour and butter; and hotdish, a one-pot meal made with ground beef, potatoes and cream of mushroom soup.

North Dakota is also home to some unique dishes such as lutefisk, a Norwegian fish dish made with lye-soaked cod; hot beef sandwich, served with gravy; bierocks, a Russian-German stuffed roll filled with hamburger meat, cabbage and onions; fleischkuekle, pastries with a similar origin and filling to bierocks; and kuchen, a traditional German-style pie made with fruit, custard or cream cheese fillings.

Daily food is mostly meat and potatoes whith some fresh fish from the lake to vary. Milk is the official beverage in the state.

The town of Rutland gained a spot in the 1982 Guiness Book of Records for having cooked and eaten the wolrd's largest burger. Thousands of people showed up to have a bite of the 3,591 pounds burger.
