A delicious hot sandwich. Serve with French green salad for a light meal.
- Take a slice of bread and butter lightly one side. Place ham slice on the buttered side and cheese slice on top of ham. Finish with a second buttered bread slice, butter side down, to make a sandwich. Press firmly to help hold the sandwich together.
- Heat 1 tablespoon butter Fry sandwich in butter for 3-5 minutes each side, until golden and crisp on both sides.
- While first sandwich is cooking, make a second sandwich. Once the first one is cooked, add more butter to the pan and fry the second.
Grated cheese melts faster. Substitute 1 cheese slice with 1/4 cup grated cheese.
Sprinkle grated cheese on top of the sandwich just before serving.
