Currant ketchup

A sweet and sour ketchup sauce. Goes well with cold meats, roast pork, ham, veal.

Ingredients

5 lb currants (picked from the stem and crushed)
3⁄4 pn vinegar
1 T cinnamon (ground)
1 t clove (ground)
1 t allspice (ground)

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients together in a large pot.
  2. Bring to a hard boil, and then lower heat.
  3. Simmer for 1 hour, stirring often.
