Valentine sugar cookies
Make something special to celebrate Valentine's Day.
Ingredients
1 c butter (softened, or soft margarine)
1 1⁄2 c sugar (confectioner's sugar)
1 egg (lightly beaten)
1 t vanilla extract
1 t almond extract
2 1⁄2 c flour (all purpose)
Instructions
In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add egg and extracts. Stir in flour; mix well. Chill for several hours.
Pre-heat oven to 375°F. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to ¼ inch thickness; cut with a 2 1/2 or 3 inch heart shaped cookie cutter.
Place on ungreased baking sheets; sprinkle with red sugar, if desired. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
