Apple chutney

Description

Not only chutney makes a wonderful food gift and it is also handy to have at home.

Ingredients

3 lb apple
1 lb onion
1 1⁄2 c sugar
1⁄2 c water
2 t ginger
1 t cinnamon
1 1⁄2 c vinegar

Instructions

  1. Combine all the ingredients and bring to a boil. Simmer until mixture thickens, about 1 1/2 hours.
  2. Remove chillies. Ladle into hot, sterilized jars. Process in a hot water bath for 10 minutes.

Notes

Try this chutney over a melted cheese sandwich or as a side to roast pork.

Decorate chutney jar with a bow, if giving as a present, or wrap in home decorated paper.
