Banana and mango ketchup


Sweet and tangy, it will enhance any roast pork and many other pork recipes.


1 banana (very ripe, peeled and coarsely chopped)
2 mango (peeled and coarsely chopped)
1⁄2 c onion (sweet onion, diced)
1 clv garlic (chopped)
1 t salt (kosher salt)
2 T brown sugar (light brown sugar, packed)
1 T molasses
1⁄4 c vinegar (balsamic vinegar)
1⁄2 t chili pepper (chipotle chili, ground)
1⁄4 t ginger
1 t cinnamon (ground)
1 t allspice (ground)
1⁄4 t nutmeg (grated)
1⁄4 t clove (ground)
1⁄2 c water


  1. Using a food processor, puree the first 10 ingredients.
  2. Place the puree into a large saucepan, add the remaining ingredients. Bring to just a boil, reduce heat and simmer for at least 15 minutes. Be sure to stir often.
  3. Remove from heat, cool before serving or placing in fridge.


Goes with: fritters, shellfish, pork, chicken, sausage, ham, or appetizer meatballs
