Fried cabbage with nutmeg

Use either green or white cabbage with this recipe.

Ingredients

1 T butter
1 1⁄2 lb cabbage (white or green cabbage, shredded)
  salt
  pepper
1⁄2 t nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Heat oil and butter in a large frying pan, add the cabbage and season to your taste.
  2. Cook over a moderate heat, stirring frequently, for 15-20 minutes or until the cabbage is tender.
  3. Transfer to a serving dish, sprinkle with nutmeg and serve.

Notes

If using green cabbage, aim for one 2 lb cabbage rather than the 1 1/2 lb recommended for white cabbage.
