Rice porridge would be part of a Norwegian breakfast menu, accompanied of soft boiled eggs, goats cheese and rye crisp or flatbread.
- Bring milk to a boil over medium heat. Add salt and give it stir.
- Add rice and butter. Cook for 15 minutes stirring non stop.
- Turn heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve hot.
Before serving, sprinkle sugar and cinnamon over the rice porridge, or top with 1 teaspoon butter and a little extra milk. Thick cream, raisins and honey also make a good Norwegian fix for rice porridge.
If you don't have rice at hand, use oats, or other breakfast cereals, accompanied and your favorite Norwegian toppings from the list above.
