- Mix thoroughly all ingredients into a bowl.
- Allow to stand for 20-25 minutes.
- Strain through a sieve before serving.
To make fermented black bean paste, mash the beans through a coarse sieve or garlic press.
This sauce can be used as a substitute for nuoc mam chay or other Asian fish sauces.
