Cinnamon is used a lot in cooking and there are foods with cinnamon spice for all seasons;  however, cinnamon and cassia can also be used around the house and in the garden.

Using cinnamon around the house

The main use of cinnamon is cooking. Cinnamon can be used in both savory and sweet dishes. Additionally, cinnamon has many non-culinary uses. It can be used as an air freshener or in potpourri, and it's also a popular ingredient in natural cleaning products. Cinnamon is believed to have antibacterial properties that make it great for disinfecting surfaces and killing germs.

Using cinnamon in the garden

In addition to its culinary uses, cinnamon is also a great natural ingredient to use in the garden. It’s believed that cinnamon has antibacterial properties, and this makes it a great choice for pest control. Sprinkling cinnamon powder around plants can help keep pests away and protect them from disease. Furthermore, cinnamon can be mixed with water and sprayed on leaves to help prevent fungal growth. Additionally, you can add a pinch of ground cinnamon to the soil when planting new seeds or seedlings. This helps keep fungi at bay while increasing nutrient absorption in the plant.

Finally, cinnamon is also a great way to naturally fertilize plants. Mixing cinnamon powder with other natural ingredients like coffee grounds, eggshells and banana peels can create nutrient-rich compost. This compost can be used to fertilize plants and help them grow healthier and stronger.
