Wheat hamburger buns


The buns are easier to handle if allowed to sit over night before using them. Brush with melted real butter and a pinch of garlic or another herb of choice, and throw onto the grill. Allow to sit for a few moments, depending on heat, until crispy as desired.


1 c cooking oil (vegetable oil)
6 T yeast
3 1⁄2 c water
1⁄2 c honey
3 egg
1 T salt
10 1⁄2 c flour (whole wheat flour)


  1. Mix the oil, yeast, water, and honey, set aside to allow to rest.
  2. Preheat oven to 375º F.
  3. Add remaining ingredients. Kneading together for at least 5 minutes.
  4. Shape immediately into hamburger buns. This can be done by hand, or on a lightly flour surface roll out and cut with large size cookie cutter. Allow dough to rise for 20 minutes.
  5. Bake immediately for 20 minutes.
