Christmas drink recipes from around the World

Since Christmas is celebrated in so many countries around the world there exists a wide variety of traditional drinks. Whether your preference is for high alcohol content or just a warming liquid, you'll find something in the selections below to lift your holiday spirits.

There are many holiday songs that mention good things to drink. Holiday beverages are the perfect topper for a great dinner or the wake up for morning breakfast. Here are a few holiday drinks to include on your menu.

Basic apple sauce

Apple sauce is simple to prepare. This particular recipe with its pinch of salt and goes very well with roasted meats, roasted pork in particular.

It is equally good with some cold meats as this apple sauce can also be served cold.

Pepper

Black pepper has a strong, hot, sharp flavor. White pepper is milder.  Green peppercorns are refreshingly spicy. All these are types of pepper, the most used of all spices.

Mace & nutmeg

Mace and nutmeg come from the same plant. Mace is the membrane that covers the seed while nutmeg is the actual seed. From the two, nutmeg is considered to be the less delicate.

Mushrooms and fungi

Mild, delicate flavor. Used in western and oriental cuisines; many  varieties with different flavors in sauces, stuffing, soups. As a  vegetables they are used in Orient with fish, meat and poultry; also as  a side dish in western cuisines. Dried, they are used as seasoning  rather than vegetable.
